Ancient 'squeeze stile'

2010|Squeeze stile and Old Norse fieldnames

The old squeeze stile is a last standing remnant of a field wall. The field beyond the stile is called 'Slack' (meaning 'hollow'). Beyond this field is 'Sourbutts'; 'Saur' is Old Norse for 'muddy' - note the patch of rushes at the far end.
