The Rusland Horizons Photograph Competition returns again this year, with the theme ‘Life in the Rusland Valley’. Winning photographs will feature in the 2024 Rusland Horizons Calendar, so get out there now and take some great photos!
Main Rules:
The Competition is open to anyone within the South Lakes/North Lancashire area, who is not a professional photographer.
The theme of the Competition is ‘Life in the Rusland Valley’. Photographs should be your interpretation of what ‘life’ is in the Rusland Valley - it could relate to a building, a space, people, wildlife, your favourite view, an activity – whatever life in the Rusland Valley means to you. Twelve entries will be selected, one for each month, with the option to select an additional photograph for the front cover, for our 2024 calendar. Photographs must be taken in the Rusland Valley area.
For each photograph you submit, we would like you to provide a few accompanying words (maximum 10) that explain what the image is of, or where it was taken, and why it reflects ‘Life in the Rusland Valley’ to you.
To be eligible, entries must also be accompanied with the date and location of the photograph, the entrants name, address and a contact number. No more than three entries will be accepted per person.
Only digital photographs will be accepted and can be taken with either a mobile phone or camera.
To meet printing requirements (the calendar will be A4 landscape), your photograph needs to be minimum 300ppi (pixels per inch) and sized at 2480 x 3508 pixels, or scaleable to this without losing image resolution quality. Files should ideally be sent to us in either jpeg or png format. If in doubt regarding the suitability of your image, please send it to us and we can confirm if the size and resolution is adequate.
Please send your entry to hello@ruslandhorizonstrust.org using ‘2024 Photograph Competition’ as the Subject Field. Closing date for entries is Thursday 31 August, 2023.
- If your photograph(s) are selected as a winning image(s) to feature in the 2024 Rusland Horizons Calendar, you will receive a complimentary copy.
Small Print:
It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
All photographs submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any photographs they submit which include an identifiable person, or persons, have been taken with the permission of the person, or persons, pictured and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.
Copyright in all photographs submitted for this Competition remains with the respective entrants. However, by submitting entries, the entrant grants a perpetual licence to The Rusland Horizons Trust Ltd to feature any or all of the submitted photographs in any of its publications, its websites and/or in any promotional material. The Trust will use entries to create a 2024 calendar which may be distributed to raise income for the Trust.
No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.
All submitted photographs will be independently judged based on photographic content, visual appeal, relevance to specified theme (Life in the Rusland Valley), and originality. Twelve ‘winning’ photographs will be chosen to be included in the 2024 calendar.
- Events may occur that render the Competition itself, the selection of winning photographs, or production of a Rusland Horizons 2024 Calendar, impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Trust and accordingly, the Trust may, at its absolute discretion, vary or amend the Competition and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Trust as a result thereof.
