Rusland Horizons volunteers were invited to help Cumbria Butterfly Conservation Branch with primrose planting in the Duke of Burgundy butterfly areas. It is hoped that more primroses planted in clumps, in suitable sunny and sheltered places, will encourage the butterflies to move through the landscape and colonise new areas, or join up with other scattered populations. Thanks to recruiting through local posters and the Butterfly Conference at Lancaster University we attracted new volunteers.
