Greenwood Trail 1

Greenwood Trail 1: Old Hall Farm to Rusland Moss and Hay Bridge

**TRAIL UPDATE (DEC 2022).  Work is currently being carried out on parts of this Greenwood Trail.  Several lengths of board walk are being removed so access to the area will only be possible in wellies until the boardwalk is replaced. This renovation work will mean that it may not be as easy to access the Rusland Moss section of this trail. Signs will be in place to advise of the work in relevant areas highlighting the need for wellies to access.  We will provide updates when the boards have been replaced**

The Old Hall Farm to Rusland Moss and Hay Bridge route follows undulating woodland tracks, fields, sections of mossland, boardwalk and quiet country roads. There are 3 routes:

  • Short (stile-free) 2.5km 1.5 miles 1-1.5hrs
  • Medium 6.75km 4.2 miles 2.5-3hrs
  • Long 8.72km 5.4 miles 4-5hrs

So far so good...

  • This first Greenwood Trail was launched in July 2017. Download the leaflet here.
  • 500 metres of boardwalk were built by the Valley Futures apprentices at Rusland Moss.

Did you know?

The route includes the 'Old Coffin Road' between Bouth and the church at Colton. These ancient roads were used in medieval times to carry the dead to be buried in consecrated ground.
