Come along and learn how to use an Austrian Scythe and enjoy cutting grass quietly with ease.
At the current rate of decline, flower rich hay meadows may have gone completely within the next 10 to 50 years. If you are interested in protecting and managing these wonderful meadows and helping to stop this decline we are working alongside Cumbria Wildlife Trust on the Magical Meadows project protecting and managing four wonderful meadows. The course covers the correct set up of a scythe for your body, sharpening and maintaining a razor sharp scythe blade, types of blades and blade selection for a particular task and practical scything for the management of grassland in Cumbria.
What to bring: outdoor practical clothing, sturdy boots, gloves, packed lunch.
Workshops will be at Hay Bridge Nature Reserve. If you would like to attend, please contact Christa at the Cumbria Wildlife Trust: ChristaN@cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk
