Intermediate Dry Stone Walling: Heck Construction

A practical intermediate wall-building course over 2 days, working with a local master craftsman, Mike Thwaites. This course will focus on the construction of 'Hecks', Water Yeats or water gates and is suitable for those who have basic dry stone walling knowledge and skills and are wanting to improve. It will be based out in the field for both days.

You will need stout waterproof footwear, ideally steel toe-caps, waterproof clothing and warm layers. Bring a packed lunch, drinking water and a flask each day.

PLEASE NOTE SLIGHT CHANGE OF LOCATION: north of the village of Bouth on the road towards Longmire and Oxen Park, on the footpath opposite Moss Wood. Park in the lay-by next to the footpath gateway or on the track just inside the field. Grid ref: SD 326 865 (click below for map). Meet there at 10am.
