Heritage Skills 2019: Hedgelaying

Local master hedgelayer Robert Bell will introduce you to this important countryside skill and show you how to safely use a bill hook and axe. Hedging in the local style on a farm hedge in need of renovation.

Location: Ridding Side Farm, Colton, LA12 8HF

The farm is Ridding Side Farm at Colton courtesy of Tony Atkinson and his neighbour. On the road from Colton to Bouth. There will be Rusland Horizon's flags out. Please just park safely along the road or where directed on the day.

Meals: Please bring a packed lunch and a flask.

What to bring: Wear sturdy footwear and wet weather gear. Bring your favourite bill hook and gloves if you have them.

Weather:

It is your instructor's responsibility to ensure your safety. In the event of exceptionally poor or dangerous weather conditions the course may need to be cancelled.

Please note that we are unable to offer refunds for any part of a course altered at short notice because of the weather.
