Heritage Skills 2019: Winter Tree Identification

Location: Rusland Reading Rooms, Rusland. The postcode area is LA12 8JZ.

Have you ever wondered how to identify trees in winter? With no leaves to help, this can be a tricky task so this course with a woodland ecologist will show you some of the methods used to identify a range of trees (mostly native) in mid-winter.

Meals: Please bring a packed lunch, tea and coffee provided.

Directions (from the south): Take the turning signed Grizedale from the A590 at Haverthwaite. After 1/4 mile turn right at the T-junction towards Grizedale. After 3-4 miles, you will reach the junction at Rusland Cross (next to Rusland Hall). Turn left and follow the road for about a mile until you go over a bridge. Turn right at the junction immediately after the bridge up a narrow road. At the next T-junction (1/4 mile), turn left. After another 1/4 mile, the Reading Rooms are on the right opposite Rusland Church.
