Coppiced over many centuries, our extensive woodlands played a key role in the area’s industrial history. These working woodlands provided hundreds of jobs and fuelled a large part of the economy of the area. This activity has created a wealth of historic features which tells the tales of past working lives in the woods.
The hidden secrets of these woods are gradually being discovered as a part of the Rusland Horizons Scheme. Last year we recorded 272 new sites in the woodlands and these varied from charcoal burning platforms, huts, trackways and walls.
This informal evening is an opportunity to hear about of the fascinating results from the survey last year, find out about this year’s programme, meet the team and book your place for this year’s survey. We are again working with NAA Heritage Consultants who will running the survey days and a representative will be on hand for any queries or questions.
Refreshments will be provided, please book your place by clicking link below.
