Sorry this event is now FULLY BOOKED.
A magical adventure in the woods along a twinkling path. Sharing a feast, a song, a story, a bonfire and autumn treasures. Carrying our light into the darkness to feel its mystery.
This is a family event for children with adults. Booking is essential (see below). The cost per participant (that's adults and children over the age of two) is £5.00, with a maximum contribution of £10.00 per family. We will contact you after booking to arrange payment.
We begin promptly in the Rusland Reading Rooms at 4.30 pm to enjoy some seasonal soup and bread and share other food that everyone brings*. We will then walk into the woods at dusk and return in the dark. The walk is not long or strenuous, but it can be muddy and slippery so everyone will need to take care and little ones will need guidance over the uneven ground. A little adventure, and lots of fun!
Please bring with you:
- *A little food to share such as cheese or fruit or nibbles. Sharing the season’s harvest together is very much part of the event.
- Your own small hand-held lantern with a tea light for each person. A jam jar covered with coloured tissue is simple to make or you may create something more elaborate (but big lanterns on a pole are not suitable in the woods).
- Emergency torches to keep in your pocket just in case - the candle light shines out more beautifully in the dark and lanterns light the pathway.
- Come prepared with warm clothes, waterproofs and wellies - we will still be able to carry on in reasonably inclement weather. If truly dreadful, we will improvise indoors.
Car-sharing would be really appreciated as parking is limited.
Just to mention that ‘magical’ doesn't include scary ‘Halloween’ costumes - it's our connection to nature and the beautiful mystery of the darkness we are celebrating.
