POSTPOSED: Spring 2020 Work Party

We're sorry but this event has been postponed due to Coronavirus concerns.

All welcome to join our next practical work party on Sunday, 29th March - a single location event held at Great Lindeth Wood (SD 33177 85503) at Bouth. Jo and Darryl run a small scale woodland management project. They manage their own broadleaf woodland, promoting health and new life for their native trees and plants and creating habitat for woodland birds and butterflies.

There are two tasks to be completed. One is to clear deer fences of bramble, before it starts its vigorous growth. The other is to layer hazel, to encourage new growth. The work party will start at 9.45, with a briefing from Jo, and finish around 3pm. Please note:

  • The entrance to the wood is at SD 33177 85503, opposite Lindeth Kennels, on the very narrow road that runs up behind Bouth overlooking Black Beck Caravan Park. (see approx https://what3words.com/outsiders.plantings.icicles ). Look out for the double gates into the wood; someone will be there to help you to park.
  • Parking for up to 6 cars is available on site, but participants are encouraged to share or maybe park elsewhere and walk in.
  • BYO flask and packed lunch.
  • Wear stout footwear and outdoor clothing suitable for the weather and job in hand
  • Tools and gloves will be provided
  • This event is not suitable for children under 12 or for dogs.
