Planting Wildflowers at Oxen Park Reading Room

As part of our Colton Parish Greening Project we’re running a wildflower planting Event at Oxen Park Reading Room. Join us to help plant some wonderful native to Cumbria wildflower plugs that will improve biodiversity and support insects and butterflies.

Our wildflower experts Countryside Rangers Sue Thurley and Duncan Goulder along with our specialist ecology expert Trustee Jenny Holden-Wilde will be there to answer any questions and pass on their top tips for everything wildflower related including how to ensure these precious wildflowers thrive. Learn about wildflower planting, choosing the right flowers for the right place, what equipment you need and which local varieties will increase biodiversity.

You’ll also learn about roadside verge restoration and how to identify some of the more common wildflowers you’re likely to see. Our wildflower experts will be there throughout the afternoon to answer any questions and pass on their top tips for everything wildflower related.

Come and help us brighten up the Reading Room area by planting some wonderful wildflowers.

This Event is open to everyone. No prior experience necessary. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
