Join us for a guided walk along one of our beautiful Greenwood Trails. We will be exploring the shorter option of route number five, Rusland Valley and Yewbarrow, with a small, additional detour, covering approximately five miles.
The walk, which will start near the Rusland Pool Hotel, is relatively flat terrain and fairly easy going, following open fields alongside a tidal river (the ‘Rusland Pool’) and through woodlands. There is a very brief, short section, along a narrow road.
Discover this wonderful part of the Rusland valley as you are guided through stunning landscapes, learning about the history and heritage of the area along the way.
There will also be an opportunity to join in with some informal surveying throughout the walk, helping to review the route and note any potential maintenance work that might need to be carried out to improve the trail. The information will then be passed on to the Lake District National Park.
You can download the trail leaflet here to take a look at where you will be going. Each person will receive a printed Greenwood Trail leaflet on the day, which includes a map of the route and points of interest. These are also printed on waterproof paper - which might prove very useful in the Lake District!
Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
Dogs are welcome on the walk, but must be kept under close control at all times.
A suggested donation of £3 per person would be appreciated (although please feel free to give more if you wish), with all proceeds going directly to support Rusland Horizons Trust and its future activities. Donations can be given to the walk leader on the day.
We expect the event to be popular, so book your place now!
