If you want to hear stories about Rusland straight from the horse’s mouth then take a look at our oral history archive where we have uploaded interviews with Gordon Wilkinson from Rusland, Admiral and Mrs Pirney from Nibthwaite as well as a whole host of interviews by the LA12 Gang - Memory Catchers Company from Class Three at Leven Valley School. Out and about you may also have met our laundry bucket head installation which was designed and made by the Leven Valley pupils with the support of local artists Tim Fleming and Dan Fox. Touch its nose and you can listen to the kids’ excellent recordings of interviews with people from the area who have all sorts of interesting stories and insights.
Penny Bridge Academy will be working with Tim in September to create their own oral history company. We are looking for a creative, fun and friendly volunteer who is up for helping to facilitate an exciting oral history project at Penny Bridge School. It would involve attending and helping at six afternoon workshops over six weeks starting on the 18th September. Anyone interested should contact Tim Fleming tim.fleming@whitewoodandfleming.org
We also need help with transcribing the interviews that the grown up group have done so far. It takes about an hour to do ten minutes of transcript and the interviews are about an hour or so long. Any help gratefully received!
