Woodland habitats include broadleaved and mixed woodland, coniferous plantation, yew woods and juniper scrub. Upland heathland, valley and basin peat bogs, man-made tarns, lake shore and waterside fen, unimproved pastures and meadows, wet ground, swamps and lowland raised bogs can also be found in the scheme area and, while many of these habitats are found frequently in Cumbria, some are sufficiently rare to be of national and international importance.
