Do you have a background in conservation, landscape management or outdoor education?
Have you worked for a range of organisations or perhaps even set up your own business in any of the above fields?
Could you spare at least 5 days over the next year to share your knowledge and understanding of the sector with our Rusland Horizons apprentices?
If so we would love to hear from you.
Rusland Horizons is a Heritage Lottery Funded project. It is a 3 year scheme. Part of it includes the Valley Futures Apprentice Programme, to train young people in countryside management skills.
We have 6 apprentices in post and we’re looking for people to mentor and support them, by coming along to 5 sessions over the next 12 months, plus additional informal support. The days will include both indoor and outdoor sessions where everyone will get together to share personal experiences and knowledge through workshops and field visits.
Whilst inspiring and helping our apprentices discover their potential you can broaden their experience as well as your own. This is a great opportunity to help us develop the next generation of land managers both for the Rusland Scheme area and further afield.
We are looking for people who are easily approachable, have a friendly manner and an interest in sharing their personal experience of working in this field.
We have devised a programme of workshops and field visits throughout the Rusland Horizons scheme area and would love to hear from you if you would like to take part.
No formal qualifications or previous experience is required, just a willingness to offer some guidance and support to young people starting out on their careers.Full training will be provided and we also offer out of pocket expenses for travel within Cumbria to your place of volunteering.
